It get’s punished of course if you miss the shot, so it’s not very used, but It can be a good secondary weapon, allowing you to switch to a faster one as soon as you shot the charged burst.Īnd that’s it guys, the weapons of doom. The more you walk the more it charges, and when it’s fully charged your shot will deal 60 damage (80 if headshot) at unlimited range. It deals 20 damage per round BUT it can be charged by, strangely enough, walking. Its arguably the slowest weapon in the game too. It gimmicky but it works to stop camping players and motivate movement. For that reason, combo it with high damage weapons, like the Super Shotgun to finish enemies fast. It’s secondary is basically the ability to rotate the barrel without shooting, keeping the max speed for another fight without spending any ammo.Īs for ammo, remember to keep an eye on it, since it can only hold up to 200 bullets and that’s worthy a few seconds of shooting at best. The only downside is that you have a slower move speed while holding the trigger and that allows a shotgun opponent to easily kill you before you kill him, other than that, it’s good for every kind of player. It can kill anything if you can keep your aim on the target long enough and stay alive while at it. It’s hit-scan based so it’ll always hit the target if it’s inside the rather small spread ratio, and although it doesn’t deal much damage per shot, it shots an insane amount of bullets per minute (1800 to be exactly at max rotation speed). The Chaingun is a great all round weapon for mid-range fights. The player starts each spawn with 30 Shells and can hold up to 40 and overall, it works best as a secondary weapon, since multiplayer is much faster than the single player and you won’t always be able to get close to a moving target, thus, it’s a great partner to most high range weapons. It’s Secondary Fire is the campaign’s mortar shot, a AOE explosive that’s easy to land but with very low range, it works similar to a instant frag grenade for slight less damage. The Primary Fire is the same buckshot spread that you are probably used to, with very high damage when at close-to-melee range, capable to kill a full health enemy with 2 full hitting shots or 4 for a full health/full armored enemy.

On multiplayer it’s unlocked at level 11, which is rather fast to get to and it works exactly as it does on the campaign. Doom 2016 however did a pretty good job at it. The Combat Shotgun is Doom’s biggest staple, reproduced on many games but never with the same effectiveness as it had on the original game.
